If Christmas is about anything in our culture, it is about getting the family together and trying to do things just the same was as we always do it.  needless to say, that sentiment brings with it a bit if thinking about how things used to be.  Here;s a few links to websites I have found to go back and see the past:

Wish Book Web — Remember back when you were a kid, there was the magical moment when the Sears Christmas Catalog came out?  Well, so did the folks at wish Book Web.  Their online project is finding as many Sears Wish Books as possible, from as many different years as possible, and scanning them in for preservation.  I’l admit to spending an hour pouring over the one from the year I was six years old.  A few are old enough to be a glimpse into how people used to live.  Some other companies Christmas catalogs are also included.

Once Upon A Win — This blog, put together by a bunch who has a handful of funny sites including LOL Cats, is updated several times a week with another product that you used to use when you were a kid.  Remember those toys you played with that aren’t sold anymore?  They are all here.  Well worth bookmarking so you can return again and again.

In the 70′s –  This is a huge and somewhat unorganized site, but it has a lot of things that you haven’t seen or thought about since, well, the 1970′s.  For those of you who are a bit younger, they have links at the top of the page for seeing stuff from the 1980′s and 1990′s, too.

If the holiday is about remembering the past for you, then these places might keep you busy for a while.
